Hi Everyone,
This past year challenged us in unpredictable ways: extreme weather, global supply chain disruptions, difficult moments with reconciliation and racism and the pandemic extending from months into years.
Through it all, our associates were there for our customers, our communities and each other, regardless of the circumstances.
Every day.
It was remarkable and I’m so proud of the service Walmart Canada provided.
I’m pleased to share our 2021 Impact Report, a collection of stories from the past year about our associates. The report shows how they not only overcame adversity, but truly excelled in the face of it.
You’ll meet Joshua Oshkabewisens, an Operations Assistant Manager at the Sudbury North Walmart Supercentre in northern Ontario, who took it upon himself to educate his peers about the impact residential schools have had on his family.
Then there’s Karla Kewell in St. Albert, Alta., who started losing her hair over the stress from the pandemic until a Walmart well-being program helped her return to dancing in her store!
And we can’t forget about the pharmacists who helped administer more than 800,000 COVID-19 vaccinations.
The report also tells the story of our ongoing business transformation.
We take you to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to see how one store quickly ramped up online grocery pickup as customers used the service more and more.
You’ll see inside our regional distribution centre in Cornwall, Ontario, where we’re leaning on innovation and modern technology to speed up the flow of goods for our customers and make work easier for our associates.
All together, these stories showcase the heart and soul of Walmart Canada.
This report also speaks to the company we’re becoming – one that is focused on regeneration.
What do I mean by regeneration?
It’s about doing more good versus simply doing less harm. Being regenerative means we will always choose to leave our planet, communities and people better than we found them.
It’s about using our size and scale to make a meaningful difference by acting with integrity, promoting sustainability, creating opportunity for all and supporting our communities.
We have bold ambitions.
But as our associates have taught us this past year, together we can overcome and achieve anything.
We can be the very best.
Enjoy.
